Regularly Planted Rather Than Natural Understory of Norway Spruce (Picea abies H. Karst.) Contributes to the Individual Stability of Canopy Silver Birch (Betula pendula Roth.)

چکیده

Forest plantations, particularly high-density planted stands, are considered to be more prone wind damage compared naturally regenerated stands. The resistance (mechanical stability) of plantations can, however, improved by close-to-natural management, for example, combining pioneer and shade-tolerant species. Presumably, the stability such stands would enhanced reduced competition canopy trees stronger root contacts provided understory trees, which depend on spatial distribution. In hemiboreal forest zone, silver birch (Betula pendula Roth.) Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) H.Karst.) form a combination naturally. this study, static tree-pulling tests were performed estimate mechanical growing with random in (post-clear-cut) regularly bi-species mixed regular mixing stand significantly loading similar composition age. Such an effect might related stratification space between spruce, individual trees. Further, rooting network likely contributed reducing weak spots. Accordingly, improved, avoiding additional management.

Development in Norway Spruce, Picea abies'

A pulse-treatment of embryos of Picea abies (L.) Karst with cytokinin efficiently and reproducibly induces the coordinate de novo formation of bud primordia from subepidermal cells. The cytokinin treatment also affects the germinative development of the embryo; chloroplast maturation is delayed, and cell elongation is completely suppressed. We have analyzed the protein patterns in developing sp...

Modelling individual tree height to crown base of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.)

Height to crown base (HCB) of a tree is an important variable often included as a predictor in various forest models that serve as the fundamental tools for decision-making in forestry. We developed spatially explicit and spatially inexplicit mixed-effects HCB models using measurements from a total 19,404 trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) o...

Conserved Function of Core Clock Proteins in the Gymnosperm Norway Spruce (Picea abies L. Karst)

From studies of the circadian clock in the plant model species Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), a number of important properties and components have emerged. These include the genes CIRCADIAN CLOCK ASSOCIATED 1 (CCA1), GIGANTEA (GI), ZEITLUPE (ZTL) and TIMING OF CAB EXPRESSION 1 (TOC1 also known as PSEUDO-RESPONSE REGULATOR 1 (PRR1)) that via gene expression feedback loops participate in the...
